The most honoured and delicately beautiful Lady Esteldil (a.k.a. Lufa) and I were talking about this in Chemistry last Thursday. Instead of simply meeting and discussing random topics (which is fun, but not as "studious", we feel), our meetings could have the following format:
1. A 5-10 minute talk done by one member of the Society, on any topic (within reason).
2. Followed by discussion / opinions / questions / answers about that topic.
Of course, this is excepting the games ;D
Lucia will be doing the first talk, which she has prepared, under the topic "What are the underlying themes in Tolkien's tale of The Lord of the Rings?" That's next Tuesday.
Following that we'll have the balloon debate, more information of which will be coming later ;D
Then I may be talking on the subject of Legolas, but that one's provisional.
What do you think of this as a weekly-but-not-excluding-the-games sort of thing?

we likes it!
Weekly talks is our frieeeend!
(At least, I think we ought to give everything a try. If I bore you all to distraction and the discussion flops, we can just think of other things to do)

Weekly talks, precious...nice...I likes it!
However, I can't help thinking that the underlying themes I've discovered may not be the sort we want to talk about. Apologies for my dirty mind...

Charlie, I don't really think that is a good discussion to have with so many impressionable young minds, I think even we are too young for what I know you have in you dirty, stagnant mind. "For Frodo"

Young impressionable minds??
Where? Let me at them...! Besides, what else is the youth *ahem* of today good for but for the *wicked* to corrupt?
Although, as for underlying themes, maybe it would serve the clean part of your mind better to think of them in terms of "...te elements..." that work for you?

Well done to Lucia today for a most thought-provoking talk. And not a dirty idea in sight.
I'm terribly looking forward to the debate next week ;D

"I was just stuck in a stagnant pool of...not growing-ness!"
Sorry, felt I had to get that in... Lucia, you really don't want to know what goes on in this head...oh yes, what was that address? I've forgotten. Don't worry, we can take it, can't we Tina? Oh yes, my Ma said 'tis OK as long as we are tidy and you don't mind if she accidentally treads on you. So yay! Hope you find your tickets....

Hang on. If knowing what goes on inside your head means knowing what goes on inside that of Aragorn's, I'm sure I'd cope admirably!

HAhahahaha I am no longer 15 MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA As of yesterday I am 16 tee-hee....mmm. I agree with that talk idea by the way cos most of the topics flop and we end up talking about other things. I would do a talk but I am quite shy (shut up I am!) so maybe you could have to option for people to do it in groups? ? YAY Sheffield Sleepover, I ahve to go to bed soon, ooh new freinds is ont now got to go BUBI. (may your dreams be full of many sheffieldian seen beens)(for the others if you are wondering, for my birthday we are in fact going to sheffield for the day, why you ask, cos that is the birthplace of sean bean of course EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!)

Happy Birthday RastNim Doing talks in a group is a good idea. Think of something you want to talk about, and we'll schedule it. Group size no bigger than 3 though, otherwise there'll be no one left to listen! Hope you have fun in Sheffield. Though goodness knows why anyone would want to go there... even for Sean Bean... Will he be there?

Nooo...we're just going to wear kimonos and LotR t-shirts and look generally odd. They have trams there you know, LotR trams which are v. cool...we'll probably bring the pictures in when we get them developed. Sean Bean may be there, Sheffield United may well be playing Sheffield is cool, last time we went to see RotK and it was really cool though I did accidentally say "It's [EDIT: teacher name obligingly removed - Comma]!!" really loudly at one point. (Feel free to delete his name) Anyway...
