Here's a hint: it's neither! She's a spoilt brat, from Numenor. I do like her though.

Wasn't she the 2nd Numernorean Queen?
oooh!, this is probably completely wrong, but did she marry someone vaguely related to her? but that wasn't of royal blood yet he ruled in her place?

No, not quite. It's a bit of a trick question, and I didn't phrase it quite as clearly. Who did she prefer above all others?

Hang on. Are you implying then that the man she married was not the one she loved? Do I sense scandal in Middle Earth?

oooh! now I'm intrigued!
I know she married for convenience (although I'm not sure why she'd marry Hallacar for convenience) and that they were separated after the marriage....
*looks furiously in various sources* THis story had better be worth reading when I find it!

yes- I give up. If no-one else objects, let the objec tof Tar-Ancalime's affections be revealed!
(If it's anything obscure like her horse; you forfeit your right to another go!!)

The answer is Úner, which means Noman. It actually says: -------------------------------------------------- "We could," said Ancalimë, "if I had any mind to such a state. I could lay down my royalty, and be free. But if I were to do so, I should be free to wed whom I will; and that would be Úner (which is 'Noman'), whom I prefer above all others." -------------------------------------------------- Which, ok, was mean, but the people on SF-Fandom got it OK, I'll think of a better one: Who ridiculed Sam's stories of walking trees in the Shire?
