What say you to moving this forum? I'm not even saying that this is possible, but if you guys like the idea, I could look into it, and it's very likely that it is possible.
Let me explain. There's another template which I've used, which is much clearer, cleaner, faster, and easier to navigate and moderate. There are far more options available for the user - pictures in signatures, uploading custom avatars from your pc, seeing who is online and where, more advanced email options, searching for posts... loads more.
There's also a chance that we might share it with another group of people with different interests, oooh, say, Harry Potter, or fanfiction... but we'd have our own little corner for Tolkien, Ithilien, Fanfiction, General like we do now. That way we'd also interact with a lot more people. The board would be much livelier too.
It's just an idea. It'd make life much easier for me, and perhaps Lufa, but I'm OK with it like now too. What say you?

Well, if it makes life easier for you then I'm up for it. It must be difficult to check everything. Move away.

One thing is though that we lose all the posts we've already made. At the rate we were going when we first started, shouldn't be much of a problem to make up again...

Hehe oh yes...oh it'd take forever for me to be a Maia again...and I'm nearly a Valar too...oh well. One must be prepared to make sacrifices hheh.

It sounds like a good idea from what you've written; are there any more details on it? Also, could you explain a bit more what our new posting forum would be like? But, yeah, I agree with Arrie, anything which makes your life easier I' am in support of. Maybe it would be possible to save some of the funnier/ linked/ important posts to a word document and then re-put them up/ put it on a webpge as an archive?

Yes, there's an idea! An example of what you'll be letting yourself in for is On the Verge, or Skytec Aerospace. The first example is the free version, second is the full paid version. Not much difference, as you can see. I'll now start looking into how to do it...

i agree; let's gp with the freebie!
I very much like the idea that we woudl interact with more people, is that shownon the two examples you've linked? because I can't see other forums linked to it.
How would we share it? Would it be like what we have now but instead of e.g. Tolkien, General, Ithilien, they would be the names of the different groups and then when you click on the buttons, they further sub-divide into what we have now?
I say go for it, as long as we can retain some of our posts somewhere.

I think it is a good idea, does it really matter if we loose our old posts, I never read anything but the new ones anyway. This is my first time on here in ages...hiya again!

Guys, soon we will have our very own corner of the glory that is Invisionboard! (And leave behind the chaos that is proboards...) The address will be tolkien.weasleynet.com (not up yet). The webspace (www.weasleynet.com) belongs to a friend of mine who says we can have the space free of charge, because his Harry Potter forum (forums.weasleynet.com) won't take up all of it. We would therefore be affiliated with the Harry Potter one (also up soon) and a single registration would give you access to both forums. As for our old posts... I know that on vbulletin (another template) it would be possible to move the posts over, though it would take a long time. I don't know if this feature's available on invision, but I guess so... anyway, that comes later. Hope this is all to your liking. I'll let you know when more starts happening.

Excellent! That sounds great...I suppose we could deign to set the greatness of Tolkien next to erm...Rowling *sigh*
Very excited! If it takes too long to save the old posts, don't suppose there's any point. Revise instead...!

Hi there. My name is Ben Macrow and from tomorrow I will be your new forum webmaster so I thought I had better introduce myself. To update you all from about 2pm tomorrow (I hope). The new LTS boards will be open for business at tolkien.weasleynet.com. I will be setting up and installing the boards over tonight and tomorrow so if you visit the site from about 10pm tonight you will notice pages there, except it will state closed. I will open the boards once we are ready to accept you guys as users. I am hoping for a very smooth transition and will be replicating all forum groups as they are on this very board, unfortuanely I am not able to import your posts. As you guys sign up I shall also promote you to the nessecary levels, admins will remain admins, moderators will remain moderators. However due to the new boards being much more powerful in the coming weeks I will be in dicussion with Andune as to possible structure changes. For now the sign in will be for your board only. I am working on a single sign in system for my boards (due to open in about a month) and your board. The boards you see tomorrow will only be the first stage in an exciting new era. Phase 2 in the early planning stages and will include customised graphics and so forth. Also coming soon will be an online book/video/music store based on amazon.co.uk's catalogue so you guys have a central place for ordering your Tolkien books and LOTR DVD and videos. I hope you agree that the next few months will be very exciting and I am greatly looking forward to it!!! See you all on the new boards!!!! Ben Macrow Webmaster - www.weasleynet.com
