I came up w/ this crazy idea talking to Lucia early one Saturday evening (Matt time = bout 22:15) Neway... /me shall explain - i think the best idea would be to just quote that conversation Esteldil says: Mordor doesn't sound too bad...[Matt¬e] :: Taking the long way home, where everything's overgrown (8) says: yeh i reckon you could have yourself a niche market there... if you could buy yourself some mordor real estate and set up a holiday village....Esteldil says: wow! excellentEsteldil says: my sole guests could be Frodo, Sam and Gollumright, so what i'd like to know is if you were going to set up a holiday village newhere in middle earth... where would it be??? (and why?? - obviously) so yeh go think about it and post .. post .. post.. (and hopefuly this thread will be a bit more of a success than the last one i started if ne1 wants me i'll be catching some rays on teh side of mount doom

Hm. I think Belfalas would be an excellent place to have a holiday village: you have beautiful (I think) mountains behind you for those who prefer country walks in wooded hills and, if they're high enough, the odd ski trip too. in front, there is the lovely beach, erm, Bay of Belfalas on which to sunbathe and frolick in the lovely warm waters. not forgetting of course, the close proximity to the wonderful quaint town on Dol Amoroth, where one can visit Prince Imrahil (good personal friend of mine...) and hear recollections of 'The War'
So, hurry up folks and book your trip now before it's too late. Besides, stay long enough and we can organise day excursions to the neighbouring country (no passports required) of Gondor to meet King Elessar and his oh-so-lovely Steward, Faramir...

The Grey Havens, I think, would be an excellent place to build a holiday village. After all, every Elf in middle-earth is bound to pass through it one of these days. Except Legolas... who has to go and build his own ship just to be annoying...
Holiday challenge of the month - the Mortal who can sail furthest towards Aman without the Valar noticing gets a life-size Silmaril replica.

well since things have stared to dry up... i thought (well lei told me i thought and i believed her) that i ought to post where i'd set up my place in the sun... Then it occured to me that i prolly wouldnt put it in the sun, what with detesting sun bathing (most boring occupation on this planet (or indeed middlearth)). Feel free to argue [ahem] i mean initiate a lively debate about this So i'm thinking i'd prolly build muhself a log cabin in Fangorn Forest... (from dead wood o' course) I reckon that it'd be nice ne peaceful there... good place for some quiet reflection. so yeh now its someone else's turn

yes, Fangorn forest sounds lovely actually. Why not Mirkwood though? equally creepy sand quite and dark. Or Lothlorien, if you really want peace and quiet and you can always camp out under the golden boughs next to Nimrodel...*sigh* Just be careful of hidden elves....you don't want to bump into one when answering the inevitable calls of nature.

Interesting thought.
In fact, the deserted Dol Guldur would be a perfect place to spend a creepy, mysterious holiday. Perfectly safe, of course, since it's been surveryed by Istari and Co.

Where??
Or why not at Isengard. There you have excellent ruins to admire. Hidden treasures to find, even the odd Orc body to dissect for those nature-trail loving amongst you. And, due to the bubbling furnaces deep within pits left by its founder Saruman, you can enjoy hot springs. yay!

Excellent idea ;D Dol Guldur (Dol Guldor??) is Southern Mirkwood, where Sauron used to live. I think. At Isengard, you might even bump into the odd Ent, Huorn, or Palantir
