The first very general topic in this aptly named general general topic forum:
I am a hobbit- it would seem. Does this mean i am now no able to reach the rudder pedals in my aeroplane?
Has flying been invented in LOTR? Surely some people can fly?

Oh ha ha, very funny No, flying machines were not available. The best Sauron could do was the flying steeds of the Nazgul. And surely if planes were invented, Frodo and Co. would have flown to Mount Doom.

Haha that's a funny image, Frodo and Sam strapped into seats on a Boeing 737 -
"Thank you for joining us on today's flight to the destination Mount Doom"
Yeeees...

"The exits are there, there and there should you wish to be disembark before the destination. In case of the very unfortunate yet inevitable emergency case of when Frodo refuses to parachute with Ring into Mount Doom, please either unpack the fun-size Gollums available under your seat to *aid* Frodo in his decision. But do be careful- Sam will kill you if you try anything.)

Whooo! Yay! I'm so glad at least someone's taken them up again. Cassie Claire doesn't seem to know how important they were to the fabric of our lives. I just hope these are just as good. Unlikely they'll be much ruder than the original ones. Send us the link, please!

She doesn't realise that we have quoted her for the last 2 years of our lives, so much so that certain quotes have become part of our everyday language! They are good, I'm not sure what you will think, they are in a slightly different style but still v funny enjoy - www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/

I must say, I don't find these as funny as the original, although Gimli's "giving him split ends" is sheer genius!
I think she's being too overt, the subtle humour needs to come back!

wow- this has provoked some thought..altho its gone a bit off-topic, but i guess that's my fault for posting aero-rubbish in a LOTR forum yes the movie, in conclusion, would have been rather short had the characters been able to board an aircraft and fly into Mordor. Good promotion for Air New Zealand tho... www.airliners.net/open.file/477870/L/[EDIT: Sorry, I deleted this post by mistake whilst trying to reply to it. d**n these tiny buttons. Need glasses. So yeah, this edit is just to put back everything Nick said. Whoops. - Comma.]
