well....you probably already thought and probably used , but instead of either user names, each user has to be a character from LotR... not neccesarily human/elven/dwarven etc. but any thing so for example: legolas, gandalf, shadow fax, anduril and so on... or possibly male and femal caharacters...... hmmm also those are your standard names at your meetings.... is this too geeky an idea? hmmm any way whatever you think reply or any ideas for admendments or throw down the tube remarks or whatever

personally, I'd rather be myself with an Elvish name than a character. But if you'd like to be a character, you can!
What does everyone else think?

Oooh, I never knew that. In "Into the West"?
Is White fate or Lufa an elvish name, TRistan? I couldn't tell which one you meant

I think he meant Esteldil. And we all know what that means "Comma" isn't very Elvish, but it's what I use everywhere else on the net. I suppose it could be a hobbit name. RastNim - "Into the West" is such a great song... especially after seeing RotK. And :. great name too. You probably know better than me - is Nimrast a place in middle-earth?

Yeah I mean Into the West, the first time I heard it it made me cry I ashamed to say lol.
As for a place called Nimrast I think you are right, I can't remeber if there is though, there is Nevrast and a lot of places called Nim- somthing, I can't place Nimrast at the mo though...hmmm.
Hehehe Comma Baggins, Comma Took, it works!

Yeah I mean Into the West, the first time I heard it it made me cry I ashamed to say lol. I'm so glad! Me too! I'll look it up one of these days. Fool of a RastNim! Doesn't quite work, somehow I don't usually dissect people's posts like this. It's the mood I'm in today. I'm sorry. It is 8:00 in the morning after all, and I should even be up this early on a Saturday. Badminton club in 3 hours! Yay!

How can you be so happy about badminton club? you know he just made us do shuttle runs.
Don't kill me when i say this, but i don't think that Into the West is so moving. I have only heard half of it though. I think the Rohan theme is more moving- it really echos desperation. But then, maybe it's because I didn't think Frodo sailing away as very sad whereas i practically blubbed my eyes out for the Ride of the Roharrim.
Ok, since this thread is entitled NEw Idea, i have one: Try and bring in LOTR/ LOTR-associated words into EVERYTHING you say (this is esp. fun if the people you are talking to don't know much about/ hate LOTR/ are Potter fans? e.g. I am finding male and female names for a certain person as a baby is expected. i didn't tell them thye were going to be LOTR names, but suggested Esteldil and Elessar in all innocence. When they asked me what language it was, I said Sindarin (and they didn't bat an eyelid!) Oh, me and Lei also did this to spectacular effect (and jeering and laughter) during debating. I rest my case, people. Join the ranks of obscurity and nerd-dom! (as an added incentive, when we told a certain teacher of this idea, she told us that she "worried about us sometimes"...)

i do the word thing already. everyone i know is sick to death of it but its really fun. quotes are the best because then other people join in and say the next line. this also works for potc, but there isn't as much, since theres on one film, not three.
in regards to into the west: one onf the bits that makes me cry the most is when that theme starts, because it kind of signifies the end of something that i really love. it also means that i have to find a new hooby. the actal music is not that good: i don't like the way annie lennxo sings it but thats just me; its more what the song stands for that makes me cry. also some of the lyrics are pretty moving too...

yes! i agree perfectly with that!
What it means and the lyrics. I was reading the lyrics before I heard it and that moved me more. Same for Gollum's Song. I think that's a stroke of genius and the singing is perfect. But the lyrics are moving and you pity him. Whereas whenever I hear the song, i am too in awe of the music and singing to feel sad.

I do love Gollum's Song, and I liked the way they sort of built one of the lines into RotK. You remember the "We wept, Precious, we wept to be so alone."

Ah you are all mad, I ahte Gollum's song and have only heard it about 10 times (which is amazing seeing as I listen to the CD's everyday pratically). I can't stand it, I love Into the West, I love the lyrics and the way it is done, the bit that makes me cry the most is "white ships have come to carry you home" cos I dunno reli, it just is really really sad, *sniff*.
AS for the quoting I quite agree, Beccy and I are good at that, there is barely a day goes by when one of us will say something slightly lotr and the other will immidiately finish it off. It's so much fun.
What do you guys do at the debate thingy btw, what do you debate about???
As you may have noticed I have yet to barricade myself in the lounge, the forum is addictuve...even if I'm still sure there is an alien lurking just outside th...ok, no more on the a word. ...
Oooh Charlie, the "and we wept, we wept precious we so alone" that is one of my fav lines in the entire film. I love that bit!!! woo! (see im skirting the fact that I'm scared sh**less)
Finally Lucia/Figwit, at least I think it was you who said it, I think we should try and fit lotr into everyday conversation. Try the lines I do that at home and freak out my parents as they don't understand, we should try it arouns school. Try and express as much as you can using a lord of the rings quote tee-hee.
I don't know about telling people to name their children in Elvish, I would like to but fear they would get bullied, I'll stick to calling my pets lotr names!

I do like Into the West, I want it played at my funeral-remember that, RastNim, hopefully you'll still be around for that.
One of the bits that does make me cry for a reason I don't understand is the "Ride of the Rohirrim" bit, when they do the "day" shouting. Well, not that bit exactly, but when they start charging forward. I don't know why, it just makes me sad.
