Ok, this thread is about any particular moments in the films/ books:
Let's start off with a banal easy one: which bits made you cry?
Aragorn and Boromir- FOTR Faramir riding to death- ROTK Merry and Pippin separate- ROTK Sam talking about Rosie- ROTK Sam carrying Frodo- ROTK Frodo sending Sam away- ROTK
The Grey Havens didn't make me cry actually- well, not Frodo leaving Sam anyway- I was just thinking to myslef "they are so going to kiss!"
Some bits, especially Theoden and Aragorn's speeches before 'certain death' battles just really make me emotional, although I don't really cry as such.
(hey, after this, we can have other 'moments' e.g. worst moment/ fave [insert character name here] moment etc.)

*clicks fingers* Well..the points that made me cry and/or feel reli sad - Frodo getting ready to go at Bagend and Gandalf telling him that "hobbits really are amazing" - FotR Arwen begging Frodo not to die on the banks of the ford of Brunien - FotR Frodo saying "I will take it, I will take the ring, though I do not know the way" - FotR Gandalf falling, it is Legolas' and Pippin's faces afterwards that does it, plus Frodo and Aragorn's - FotR (Gimli on the other hand always makes me laugh as poor Boromir is desperately trying to hold him back and Gimli's face is classic) Aragorn not taking the ring and allowing Frodo to leave "I would have followed you to the end" - FotR getting bored now... Boromir dying "My brother, My captain, My king" *sniff* - FotR Frodo leaving and Sam nearly drowning, then Sam's little speech in the boat where they hug *aww* - FotR Gimli saying the fellowship has failed - FotR Frodo and Sam going down into Emin Muil and Frodo saying "I don't expect we'll ever see them again" - FotR Not much makes me cry in TTT (thank god I hear you say) Sam's speech on why the stories really matter cos it shows all the other fellowship members all fighting far away from each other - TTT Faramir "I think at last you and I understand one another, Frodo Baggins" and forfiting his life - TTT Sam talking about them being put into stories and Frodo saying that he was being serious too - TTT As for RotK.... I really can't be bothered and I'm sure I'm boring you all to distraction...so I'll just go away now... NB - Through most of these scenes it is the music that is making my cry the most as it is really emotional, that is why I was so annoyed that it didn't win this year, I though RotK's soundtrack was particually emotional.

But the Cold Mountain music was seriously good though. While I would have prefered RotK, Cold Mountain was a worthy winner.

wave of fury - pah - more like tsunami well, i cant really make a judgement, as i havnt hjeard the cold mountain music. i just hate renee zelwegger. mainly because i cant spell her name. bits that make me cry [which is quite an achievement really because anyone can tell you i dont cry]: when everyone bows down to the wee blobbits odly enough, when aragorn sings his wee sog and bows to everyone [this may be due to hysterics because eomer has appeared] when frodo writes 'and the lord of the rings by frodo baggins' when the piccies come up at the end, and you see sean bean bits that make me lapse into crasy hysterics: share the load gimli plus party poppers [look at the corination of aragorn, gimli has party poppers ties in his beard] when legolas appears and the whole audience says..i dont remeber there being a woman in the fellowship [ducks pans throuwn by legolas "admirers"] when i see the cows in the shire [dont ask] buts that make me scream: when frodo says ayia earendil elenion ancalima when FIIIIGWIT says ... anything that should be enough basically the whole of lotr makes me cry, laugh scream eee and swear to live my life as an elf and eat only lembas

hysterics because Eomer appears? From laughing? or from cyring? why?
Gimili is a disgrace to butch dwarfkind in the coronation. He has blooming ribbons!
Ok, what about fit moments? As in, which moments are any character particularly cool/ attractive?
Ok, i have Aragorn moments for EVERY film so I'll bore you to distraction with them:
FOTR- the 'swagger' after Frodo runs off TTT- he pushes open the gates in slow-mo and sort of swaggers in (I see a connection) ROTK- jumps off boat (although, if the spoiler pics of ROTK EE are anything to go by, the scene with Legolas iwth hand on Aragorn's shoulder could be a good moment!!)
enough said. Try to keep it clean, then I won't have to edit much. Anyone got any other ideas for other "moments" to pick over?

The bit where Sam is doing his speech in TTT, that makes me cry. The bit that nearly makes me cry in TTT is the Arwen and Aragorn bit, that goes... "Idren emmen mena gui ethwel. Hae o auth...a nir...a naeth." (may I apologise for incredibly poor elvish spelling) "Why are you saying this?" "I am mortal, you are elfkind. It was a dream, Arwen, nothing more." Awwwwww....... In FotR....the Shire music at the beginning makes me cry a wee bit, and the bit with Sam at the end when he's doing his speech in the wee boat. Oh and when Gandalf falls off the wee cliff... poor hobbits... RotK...Aragorn's battle speech "A day may come when the courage of men fails" etc. The "For Frodo" bit, I agree with RastNim on that one. Any bit where they play a little snippet of Into the West, the bit with Gandalf and Pippin in particular, I am fine right up until that point, when I start crying like a little girl. Sam carrying Frodo also starts me off. Pippin singing is v. sad. The "shaare the looooooad" just makes me laugh, esp. since we have a little film of my mouth doing it. The Grey Havens doesn't really make me cry, even though I know it's really sad. The "Well, I'm back" doesn't really do it for me, that's probably me being really picky bit I don't think Wee Aaaaastin did it v. well. And the bit with the Rohirrim and the "DAAAAAAAAAY" shouting, not that bit but when they charge...I don't know why. I think Theoden's death should be sad, but I'm normally laughing because of the "Feast on his flesh..." "I'd really rather you didn't!" Um...what else...Into the West really makes me cry, especially when the pictures come up, Frodo's in particular. Oh, when everyone bows to the Hobbits and you get a huge burst of the Shire music. Oh, I'm making myself cry now, I'll stop.

WOW YEAH the Aiya Earendil Elanion Ancalima - I learnt that like a year ago and then it was in the film and all I remeber was bob turning too me and goin "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAiyaEarendilElanionAncalimahesaidithesaidit!!" And yes it is an achievement Lora NEVER cries but she did at RotK, aww I remeber you saying you wouldn't and then looking over at you and you were in tears awwww....happy times..well sad times really. As fir bits that make me laugh - Shaaaaaare the Loooooad! Gimli re party poppers The cows(your fault pae) Mind the Pumpkin! Bilbo at the havens (shortly before bursting into tears once more) cos he looks like a mini Einstein Get up you lazy sod bit (cant be bothered to explain) When Frodo looks worried when Smeagol is stroking his back and of course, even though I was crying really hard I nearly peed myself when I saw Gimli enter Frodo's room, that bit is soooo funnny Thats about it in RotK.. I've sed b4 what makes my cry in RotK...somewhere but it was - "For Frodo" bit When they all realise the volcano is erupting and Frodo and Sam might not survive "Do you remember the Shire" and "But I can carry you" bit For some reason the bit where Gollum holds up the ring in wonder in the cracks of doom, I think it's the music The "Rosie Cotton dancing, she had ribbons in her hair" - it was this line that I burst out crying at the first time I saw it, litrally burst though, quite loudly as well..oops When Aragorn and everyone bow down to the "wee blobbits" and the little line afterwards, "thus it was that the third age was ended and though eternally bound by love and friendship the fellowship was ended" or whatever The Frodo "how can you pick up the threads of an old life, how can you keep on..." line Then at the havens of course - Firstly with Gandalf's "Here at last on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our fellowship" Then All the hobbits saying goodbye, especially Frodo and Sam Then the ship sailing off as that is it The VO of Frodo saying that Sam cannot forever be torn in two and that he needs to be one and whole for many years.... Of course it is then Into the West and the wee piccies of all the fellowship... Ok I am making myself reli sad now...

Lol but it doesnt work with Eowyn, try pronouncing Seowyn...diff.
Yeah thats our random lives.
As for yummy moments I don't really have any actually.
hmm...
I do like the bit in FotR though on weathertop where Aragorn stops for a moment and there is a wraith behind him and he smiles and they whips round and shoves a burning piece of wood in its face THAT, its soo cool.
Legolas looks particually fetching with the "Boya Hyn, Neled therin, das Kara Minique" bit, sorry about the spelling, I am just going on how I remeber it being said.
OOH and Aragorn in the rain mmmmm with the AN UBEN TAN NATHA LA THEIDA (as before with the poor spelling, its how its sed lol)
ok maybe I do have yummy moments.
Eomer is sexy 2, even if he does look like and aardvark.
Im sure his mother loves him tho.
At the coronation he looks silly tho...
Hmm...randomness at late night time thing...d**n

Mmmmm....yummy moments...
I have to agree with you there, pi, Eomer is sexy, if slightly aardvark-y. I don't know about Aragorn in the rain, I think he has a strained look in his eye...on the other hand, I think Veeeeeeeego is definitely preferable to Townsend as Aragorn-Towngorn/Arasend still gives me funny daydreams.

Hmm. I thought Townsend looked very dashing in that picture.
If a little Arabian-nights-y.
Yummy moments - when the Fellowship (i.e. Legolas) kicks *** sans weapons in Meduseld.

yeah, got to agree there. It's like some scene from a bad gangster movie. As the boss strides forward, his little sidekicks punch the 101 assassins around him... Although, when Legolas pulls out his knives to hand over to Hama (before entering Meduseld) is a good moment- he looks less female there.

I think it's mostly Gandalf's smile and the fact that he seems to be totally unaware of the fighting going on around him...
