ah, but who would sack them?!
awww. don't cry Lei. Legolas still has some good lines though (very poetic lines too!). Plus, the screen time that he does have is cool screen time ie mumakil killing!. You could never accuse Legolas of having boring screen time in ROTK.
Anyway, don't even know why I'm sticking up for him since I've sworn to take the rip out of him at all times...

Even when I have consented that Aragorn is not without merit?
The mumakil is cool. I may have to dream about that tonight instead of Craig Parker. Hee hee.
They should have been sacked long ago, when their lack of common sense got them into terrible trouble.

Craig Parker, he is cool as HAAAAAAAAAAAAALDIR but no offecnce, he is fat and has wobbly jowls, not at all elven ick ick ick.
To add insult to injury I though the Mumakil killing was stupid, it was waaaay too cliche hollywood action. Ok enough of the insults.
I don't think he is a minor chracter though. ;D
Back to Faramir, I think he was portrayed completely wrong, they needed to show the love that everyone had for him, he was supposed to be a really nice person and that didn't really show through. perhaps it will in extended RotK?!

Legolas has 13 lines in RotK. I counted. The mumakil scene was cliched, but fun. And way cooler than anything Hollywood has ever come up with before Let me explain - it's not so much the appearance of Haldir as the concept of Haldir that appeals. While the appearance is that of an overdoser of cookies, the concept is akin to that of Greebo-turned-man. Back to Faramir? - OK. In the extended, there will doubtless be more scenes with him in, and hopefully through those we'll see a kinder Faramir, since that seems to be PJ's intention, only he never got enough time to show it properly.

13 lines, hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Haldir is sooooo cool though, even if not sexy, I can see how his face is nice and all but still, JOWLS!!!!!
Yes back to Faramir, I think it would be a good idea to introduce Beregond as he shws the commitment that many have. If they don't do it I shall be annoyed, mind you there is a point on the TTT ex where they explain the character change, I still didnt agree with them though, I forget why they did it tho lol, erased it from my memory as I don't agree.

I recall it was because, if Faramir had been able to resist the ring so easily ("I would not pick it up if it lay by the side of the road" ), then that would completely overturn everything that they'd spent so much time building the Ring up to be. They have a point. But I still think they portrayed Faramir to be too like his brother - noble at heart but easily corrupted. Whereas Aragorn was able to resist the ring almost completely, despite travelling with it for so long?

Because Aragorn does not desire power at all. He doesn't even want to reclaim throne etc. SO I think the ring has no effect on him whereas Boromir and Faramir cn think of ways to use the power of the ring. Aragorn simply cannot. Ok, stop discussing Aragorn here- he is NOT a main character!!
The mumakil scene is def. just a crowd-pleaser but it's very well done and I think probably needed to lighten the mood. I mean, one long intense battle would get a bit weary after a while. Although, in that scene and in the troll (FOTR) scene, I couldn't help noticing some bits were very obviously computer generated (or really looked it)
Which bit of TTT are you talking about? The bit after Sam's speech?

I think she means the scene they put in with Denethor beng generally mean to Faramir and sending Boromir off to Rivendell.
Or not.

but then that's the way Aragorn is written about in the book. he is pratically superhuman and is everything, healer, king, friend, warrior etc.
Anywya, another grumble: Gimli
PJ used him as a thing of comedy nothing else. And completely gives him stupid accent- like some sort of stereotype. Also, in book, Gimli is more brave and courageous (he walks Paths of Dead because he would follow Aragorn, not just because he wants to keep up appearances with an elf!) and he's solemn and says these sad words sometimes that show his character. Especially with his descrpition of Galadriel:
or sth like that. But he's mroe eloquent in book. PJ just sort of portays him as a warrior, hasty dwarf with no more love for anything else than for battle and is far too 2D.
Ok, rant over. too tired to think straight. cannot cope. off to bed.

HAhah Gimli the comic relief dwarf
"Well I'm really short"
You are right, Gimli is a warrior in the books but in the films he is just there for laughs. It does lighten the mood I guess though, for the other plebians who watch it just for the sake of it it is a chance to enjoy at least 20 seconds of the film.

I think the accent was John Rhys-Davies' choice, though I may be wrong...I suppose as it is a film they needed some lighter characters but Gimli could have done with a bit more developement as a dwarf lol.

Well yes, I suppose upwards rather than outwards would have been good...
